With Computer Science Education Week happening December 5th - 11th, Howard County Public School teachers and students are getting ready to actively participate in The Hour of Code event during technology classes. This event focuses on giving students and staff an opportunity to understanding what computer programming is and just how many doors it may open if they continue to learn about it. Our students here at EES will, at ALL grade levels, be shown how computers need to be given step by step directions (algorithms) from the programmer in order to be successful. We are encouraging students to work beyond the one hour event by competing in a school wide coding challenge. Daily, when students get home, they are encouraged to work on coding. Each hour spent coding will be totalled by team and team totals will be announced to students daily during morning announcements. Put your name on your ticket before turning it in and you may be selected to win some extra coding time on a robot!
